Top 20 Real Estate Websites in April - Hitwise

I have posted the monthly Hitwise rankings for a few months prior, and it seems to be of great interest - so here are April's numbers.

I tried to categorize and color code the various site, to make it easier to interpret.  (For example, Hitwise considers Rental part of the Real Estate industry.)

In case you aren't familar, Hitwise is one of the services we find to the most reliable in terms of ranking popularity.

From a marketing perspective, you should be concerned with the yellow companies, those on which Realtors and buyers interact with each other.

From a Broker standpoint, I am impressed to see Zip continue to move up and stay on top of the list.  If you haven't checked out their site lately, you should.  They have some impressive features.  (You have to register to see all of it.)

And again, there remains a strong presence of foreclosure resources on the list.

Thanks for the list Sara - I'd not heard of Reply! before.  Will check that out.  Would you explain your color codes?  Thanks.

I put the color codes on there, becasue it would help me think of how I would approach things on a listings presentation.

Yellow- They are sites that are media sites.  The public can use them and Realtors can do 'extra' things on them (sometimes paid, sometimes free).  But they are sites that you can do things on, that not every Realtor would automatically get.

Orange - Represents a brand.  So if you are a Prudential agent, you can't buy advertising on Remax. However, I think it is worth mentioning, because all national brand site have IDX, so your listings are essential on them.  You are getting clients exposure on the sites.

Blue- Resource sites, sort of a board categorization.  They offer tools, directories, such particular types of listings like REOs.  Some have consumer facing functionality, some don't.  More data/tool driven than advertising driven.

Green - Rentals.  Fairly irrelevant for Realtors.  Although maybe you could somehow use them to your advantage to reach first time buyers?

Brain- You mean yours personally? :)  Actually, I alway wonder when KW.com will show up on this list?  You have a great site too.

Sara, I was only joking about my personal site.  I'm surprised KW isn't showing up on this list.  Our nantional site is done in flash which looks pretty but does little for SEO IMO.  I'll have to make some calls and tell them to kick it up a notch.

Brian- I just finished the latest Real Trend top 500 brokerage report.  In the back they have 'companies to watch' section, at least half of them were keller william offices.  KW will get there if it is something that matters to them ...

Hey all-  Thought you may want to know that this list just came out for May.  The top sites were basicaly the same.  Exception is that MSN Real Estate and Redfin moved into the top 20 and kicked out rent.com and hud.gov.
