A Real Estate Discussion Blog

3 Years Later... Active Rain Comes Back To The Windy City!

I remember the first time there was ever an Active Rain gathering in Chicago.  It was June 16th, 2007 and about 30 of us got together at Maggianos to celebrate Active Rain turning oneSee pictures here!

Little did we know that we are just getting our blogging feet wet with something that would grow into one of the largest real estate professionals networks on the web.  It's funny to look back at some of my first posts.  I didn't have a clue about the power of blogging.

Fast forward three years.  From a gathering of friends who had never met, to RAINCAMP CHICAGO!

More aware of the power and the potential.

The people putting on RainCamp have been totally emersed in blogging, social media and Internet marketing for years.  Now they've packaged up all of their knowledge up into a one day event and are coming back to the Windy City to share everything they've learned with you.

I look forward to attending RainCamp next Monday, and I hope all those that can make will come too.  It will be a great day, filled with learning, networking and mapping out your Internet marketing strategy for the future.

Hi Sara, I am registered and looking forward to learning all I can how to use technology and social media in my new real estate business.  I have been disappointed attending some seminars as they really did not spend the time and take you through the process how to use all the great technology available.  I do not have a laptop is it a must for the day?

Posted by Bruce Walter (Keller Williams Realty Lafayette/West Lafayette, Indiana) over 9 years ago

Hey Bruce - No, a laptop isn't a must.  Personally, I like to have mine so I can do things online as they talk about them.  However, many other people have said that a laptop is just distracting, and they prefer not to have one, so you'll be fine!  See you there!

Sara, RainCamp's coming to DC next month, and I can't wait!  The get togethers are the most fun part of social networking.

Sara, I've been getting my "blogging voice" and working on personal internet marketing for about 4 months now -- building on the great base Baird&Warner gives our agents. I feel comfortable attending this event and look forward to participating. A couple of people in my office who have no blogging experience wonder if attending is a good idea or if they need a little more practical experience first? We are frantically busy right now so a day out of the field has to be carefully considered. And is upgrading to the "better seats" necessary for using a lap top? Thanks for your thoughts!

Oh, forgot my last question, I have a new assistant starting next week. New real estate licensee, but says she has tons of internet marketing experience in another industry. Should I pay to bring her, which of course also includes paying for her ticket and somehow doing her start paperwork before then?

Sara - I guess I never actually realized that you were based in Chicago until now.  Cool!

It's a shame that we don't hear from Craig Schiller anymore. He's a great stager and gave great advice on his posts.

I am signed up and I love Magiannos.  I always wanted to do the family style dinner there.  I hope to see you there.

Leslie - Well, one has to start somewhere! This day covers such a wide range of topics pertaining to internet marketing, that I think it is actually more of a time saver than if you were to go to individual classes on each of the topics.

I am not sure about the upgraded seats.  I haven't seen the layout of the venue.  Maybe an AR person can answer?

Hmm, up to you about the assistant.  I think you are going to hear such a wide range of information, it is up to you as the person your assistant represents, to decide what direction you want to take it all.  If she is good at internet marketing, she should know what to do with the information and plan you give her.

Mark - and snow, and sleet, and ice... :)  But Spring is here now!

Thanks so much for the great presentation you gave yesterday...   It was great meeting you...  I really thought it was interesting about what you said about how we can tell our clients that z estimates are not always right on. and that zillow has a tool for that...  How many times do I hear from my clients that Z estimates says that my house is worth....
